Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the factor structure of CES-D-10 in Andersen form and Boston form among the abbreviated versions of the CES-D scale that are widely used to measure depression and to test their measurement invariance over gender and age groups. In order to accomplish the study aims, the 1st and 5th wave data of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLoSA) were analyzed. The main findings of this study were as follows. First, while Andersen form of the CES-D-10 scale fitted well to a 2-factor model, a 4-factor model fitted best for Boston form of the CES-D-10 scale. Second, the analyses showed that Andersen form of the CES-D-10 scale sustained measurement invariance up to residual level for gender and up to partial intercept level for age groups. In terms of Boston form of the CES-D-10 scale, measurement invariance was sustained up to residual level for both gender and age groups. Finally, the implications of this study findings are discussed.
